One of the first assignments in Judy Olson's
class "Evaluation of Systems and Services" at the School of Information
is to build several personas - fictitios characters that are representative of target audience of the product you are
evaluating. The trick to building believable personas is to come up with life-style characteristics
about them that are not necessarily relevant to their experience with technology or the product.
Such details allow for a more realistic persona, help "get to know" him or her better and predict how
people similar to this persona will interact with the system or the product.
Here you can find such random details about me...
Photography
I am an avid photographer and would love to eventually spend a considerable amount of time perfecting my technique. I used to shoot slides, but about a year ago I switched to digital and now I exclusively use my Canon D60 with a wide range of lenses. However, darkrooms fascinate me, and one day I hope to go back to film. All the photos you see on this site were taken by me.
While I don't normally maintain a blog, I do post my photos online, especially when I travel. Some of the more recent series are available at Geneva Photologue and Post-Geneva Photologue.
Adventures
Every once in a while I decide to do something extreme. A few years ago I spent two weeks riding a bicycle around Netherlands and Belgium. Then I jumped off of a gondola high up in the Swiss Alps (there was a bungee cord attached to me). You may find me living in South Africa or climbing volcanos in Guatemala whenever I have free time.
Pets
I grew up in a house with a few hundred exotic birds, several dogs, two fish tanks, a cat, and an iguana. Right now I only have two pets. Henry and Harvey are sociable but slightly poisonous Oriental firebelly toads.
